How it all Began
Hi, Im Isabel Garrett, the designer of Body
Webs. For many years I was a toy and game
designer. (Anyone out there remember the
Whoopsie doll or VCR
Clue?) But my own favorite fun was dressing
up in outrageous clothes and going out to boogie.
In 1990 I made myself a sliced up bikini costume
for a futuristic theme dance. People went nuts
over it! Everybody wanted one! I made more and
the Body Web was born.Round about that time I met
Archie - a great old dude who was retiring from
his pet shop business in New Jersey. He was
really cute and had a big motorhome (the secret
fantasy of this New Yawk city slicker). We ran
away to Florida and made Webs by the pool.
That summer I brought
them to the Lifestyles (swingers) Convention in
Vegas and later to Dressing for Pleasure (fetish
fashion ball) in NY. ( major culture shock for
Archie). By then we had dresses and catsuits too.

Some
guy stops at our table and says Bikers would like
them things. (Thanks, whoever you are.) So in June
of 91 we brought Body Webs to the Harley Rendezvous
in upstate NY. That motorhome sure came in handy. Since
Archie was gonna be helping at the booth, I made him an
outfit too. The girls loved him and everyone loved Body
Webs! We both loved the bikers and the feeling was
completely mutual! "So wheres this Sturgis
place? we asked.
Well, we went to Sturgis and Daytona, Myrtle Beach and
Laconia, Key West and Cherokee and Chilicothe. Archie,
who turned out to be the worlds greatest roadie,
became a cultural icon - strutting down Main Street,
flirting with the girls and getting photographed at least
a million times. I became the Web Lady - dressing
thousands of wonderful people, cracking jokes and doing
my best to help folks stop obsessing about their bodies
and have some fun!
Archie and I both live in Florida, 75 miles apart.
Were better friends than ever now and he still
comes to all the shows. Body Webs is a cottage industry
in a resort community. Ive got my own motorhome and
a computer (Yay MacIntosh!) - which brings us to the here
and now. This running all around the country is getting
kinda tiring. and theres still a Whole Wide World
to Web. (pun totally intended) So now, here we are, dot
com.
Go back to About Us or ahead to Design and Techniques.
